10 LED VU Meter using KA2281 IC Circuit and PCB Layout

In this article I’m sharing simple 10 LED VU Meter circuit and PCB layout. This circuit is works based on KA2281 IC, its downloadable PCB layout is also sharing with you for quick refence. You can use This PCB layout for build a mono Vu meter.

10 LED VU meter Circuit

This Circuit board is designed very neat and clean. All components part number labelled on the board in white color, so their is no difficulty to identify the compononets.

10 LED VU meter circuit

The components are minimal and total cost of the circuit is very cheap. This Board represents the MONO VU meter. If you want to build a stereo vu meter, build another one. The 10 LED is enough for covering all audio signals.

Connections Details

This circuit is works on 12V dc single supply. The KA2281 IC working voltage is rated as 5 to 16V DC. but i recommended to use 12V 1A DC power supply. You can directly takes in from the amplifier supply section.

From the IC LED connected through the 1K resistors. Actually the KA2281 is a stereo VU meter IC. The circuit designed for mono vu meter.

A 1000uf capacitor is connected in the 12V DC supply for smoothening the DC supply. This will reduces the false triggering of lights due to noise in the input voltage.
