Did you see the marking of 3.3v on electronic modules or microcontroller connections? what happen when you give 5V Dc to this circuit, definitely the circuit will damage due to high voltage. To avoid this type of issue we are using stable voltage regulators. The 3.3v regulator circuit is essential for powering the voltage sensitive devices or circuits like microcontroller, Wi-Fi modules and sensors.
In this article I’m sharing the AMS1117-3.3 voltage regulator circuit for a stable 3.3v DC output. This circuit has status LED and additional filtering capacitor to improve its performance and visual appearance. Learn how to build a 3.3V regulator circuit to protect your voltage sensitive circuits.
AMS1117-3.3 Voltage Regulator

The AMS1117 Voltage regulator is a popular Low dropout linear (LDO) IC, which is used in many microcontroller circuits and electronic sensors. This IC is most commonly using for getting stable voltage and protecting the main circuit from over voltage or voltage fluctuations.
The IC is comes with adjustable version and fixed output voltage version of 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, and 5V. The version of the IC is also mentioned in the left bottom side of it. AMS1117-3.3 is common in most of the electronic circuits, this IC provides a stable voltage of 3.3v DC output. This regulator IC can deliver up to 1A current. The design of this IC is comes with small metal part to provide a good heat dissipation.
AMS1117 Pinout

| 3 | Vin | Input Voltage |
Circuit Diagram

In this regulator circuit diagram the Pin 3 of AMS1117 is the volt input pin, The 106 Capacitor means 10uf and a 104pf capacitor is connected in the voltage input pin. These capacitors are working as the DC filtering and high frequency filtering of input dc voltage.
Pin 2 is the ground pin which is connecting to the negative supply of the circuit. The Pin number 2 is the voltage output pin, which will give the regulated stable 3.3v DC out. 10uf and a 104pf capacitor also used in the output section to filter the output voltage and provide stable DC output. A Red LED is connected to the output section using a 1K resistor to know the circuit is working or not. When the circuit is turn on the LED is start to glow.
