If the motor Pump is not working or it works but runs slowly means the issue is related to the capacitor. The first step to solve this issue is to confirm that this problem occurs due to the motor’s connected capacitor. In this article, I will share with you the common issues that will happen if the Capacitor is faulty.
Symptoms of a Damaged Capacitor in an Electric Pump
- The pump is not starting or struggling to start.
- Motor is running slowly or not reaching its full speed of rotation.
- Overheating of the motor or pump.
- The motor starts to work and it stops suddenly.
- Strange buzzing or humming sounds occuring from the motor.
- Burning smell (in case of overheating or capacitor failure).
What to Do if the Capacitor is Damaged
If the capacitor is identified as it is damaged or faulty you should be replaced it with one that matches with the same voltage and capacitance rating specified by the manufacturer.
Also, make sure that no other electrical parts such as the motor windings or pump housing, have been damaged due to capacitor failure. You must verify that the pump and motor are not overheating after the capacitor replacement.
