IRFB4227 is a high power HEXFET MOSFET and it can able to handle 200V and 65A continuous current. This article describes the pinout, equivalent, specification’s and additional useful information’s regrading this IRFB4227 N Channel MOSFET.
What is IRFB4227 MOSFET?
If you are designing a Class D amplifier or Power Inverter circuit, this 65A 200V Power MOSFET do the high speed switching job. The MOSFET can handle the Drain to source voltage of 200 volt and continuous Drain current of 65A. The MOSFET is comes in TO-220AB packaging.
Key Specifications of IRFB4227
- Package Type: TO-220AB
- Drain to Source Voltage is 200V max
- Continuous Drain Current of 65A at 25°C
- On-Resistance inside MOSFET is approx. 19.7 mΩ to 24 mΩ max
- Max Power Dissipation in watts is 330W
- The MOSFET operating Temperature is up to 175°C
IRFB4227 MOSFET Pinout and Pin Configuration

How to Check the MOSFET Pinout: Hold the MOSFET, the flat side numbering facing to you and its three pins are pointing downward. Then count the pins from left to right as 1, 2 and 3. The Pin 1 is Gate Pin 2 is Drain and Pin 3 is Source. For better understanding table is given below,
| Pin No. | Pin Name |
|---|---|
| 1 | Gate (G) |
| 2 | Drain (D) |
| 3 | Source (S) |
| Metal Tab | Drain (D) |
Equivalent MOSFET for Replacement
IRFP4227, IRFB4229, IRFB4127 can be used as the replacement number of MOSFET’s. but the IRFP4227 is TO-247 package may be not suitable inside circuit board because of the larger in size.
Complementary P-Channel MOSFET
The IRFB4227 is specially designed high performance and low on-Resistance MOSFET and it doesn’t have any direct P-Channel complementary MOSFET available.
Why P-Channel Complementary is Not using
In high power applications like the class D audio amplifier and motor driver circuits the technicians rarely use P channel MOSFET complements to it. The circuit will designed with two N-Channel IRFB4227 MOSFET’s.
