In this blog post, I’ll show you how to make a 12 volt Lead Acid Battery Charger Circuit. This circuit is made to recharge rechargeable 12V Lead Acid Batteries whose capacity is between 1Ah and 7Ah.
Introduction
Lead Acid Batteries belong to the group of oldest rechargeable batteries in practice. Lead Acid Batteries with their low costs compared to the new battery technologies and also able to deliver high current important for vehicles is always the top choice for most vehicle applications.
Different batteries require different charging techniques. In the following tutorial, I will show you how to charge a lead-acid battery by using a Simple Lead Acid Battery Charger Circuit.

Working
The central part of this circuit is the LM317 IC. With such a circuit configured, you could charge 12V fixed lead-acid batteries or 12V SLA batteries.
The charging current can be regulated via a 1K potentiometer. This particular lead acid battery charger circuit is designed to be automatic in its charge switching options after the battery is fully charged.
To use it, connect the battery you want to charge. set the potentiometer to have your desired charging current. It is crucial to use the heat sink with the IC. Provide 15V to get 12V output for the battery charging.
