The LM 317 is a three led single ic can adjust the voltage from 1.5 v to 25 v dc at max current of 1.5 amps. So Proper heat sink is necessary for heat dissipation and reducing the IC damaging. Because of the high current passage through the 3 IC.

The R1, R2, and R3 are 5 watt resistors of 0.22 ohm. Adjust the R5 resistor for controlling the output voltage.
