In most of the situation you need to reduce the DC voltage from high voltage to low voltage, in this condition we are using a buck converter circuit. The converter is step down converter is a type of DC to DC power converter that efficiently converting the higher input voltage to lower output voltage.
Today I am going to share with you the Buck Converter Circuit using UC3845 IC and its PCB design. You can easily download the diagram and PCB design to build yourself.
How Does UC3845 IC work?
Basically the IC is work based on the PWM controller that providing the accurate regulation and control of power converters. The UC 3845 require power supply between 7.6 voltage to 30 V. The IC contains Indian oscillator that sets the switching frequency. Typically the icy frequency of 52 KHz.
The ic uses current mode control schema where the inductor, current is monitored through sensing Resistor. Where are the censored current exceeding the control voltage then the PWM latches reset, turning off the output transistor and ending the own time of the switching cycle.

Buck Converter Circuit Diagram
This Buck converter circuit consist of human number of external components, so it is easy to assemble. Please ensure that all the external components are good quality. Keep in mind that please place a ic holder on the PCB. Any short circuit may cause serious damaged the circuit or the ic internal circuit. So you need to provide more care with testing the circuit. Attach a High quality aluminum heating Mosfet and the diode.
You can easily adjust the output voltage by controlling the potential meter connected in the circuit diagram. Sometimes the mostfet may produce more heat, so you need to add additional cooling fan to cool the mosfet.
